Emergency locksmiths handle urgent lock problems that can't wait for business hours: lockouts from homes, cars, and businesses, keys snapped in locks, doors left unsecured after a break-in, and lost car keys when you're stranded. They work on site from a stocked vehicle. They don't replace police, firefighters, or a carpenter, and a good one will tell you when you need those instead.
Typical emergency calls
The list doesn't change much from year to year. Locked out of the house with the stove on. Locked out of the car at a gas station off SR-14. A key broken off in the front door. A deadbolt that won't turn after a cold, wet night. A burglary that left the back door kicked in and the lock destroyed. A business owner who can't get the shop open before staff show up.
Some are scary. Most are just inconvenient. Either way, the job is the same: get you back in and leave the door able to lock behind you.
What they can do on site
- Open locked homes, businesses, and vehicles, usually with non-destructive methods first.
- Extract broken keys from door locks and ignitions.
- Rekey locks when keys are lost or stolen.
- Repair or replace damaged locks after a break-in so you can secure the door tonight.
- Cut and program replacement car keys for many makes and models.
- Open a safe when the combination is lost, though the safe is damaged and not usable afterward.

What they can't do
A locksmith isn't a rescue service. If a child or pet is locked in a car on a warm day, or someone inside a home may be hurt, call 911 first. A locksmith also won't open a property for someone who can't show they live there or own it. Expect to show ID or other proof. If a door frame is split or a door is badly warped, the lock may need a carpenter's help before it can be secured properly. And not every vehicle key can be made from the curb; some need dealer-only codes or a second visit.
No locksmith can promise when they'll get to you, either. That depends on who's available and where they are. Anyone who swears to a precise time is guessing.
Staying safe while you wait
Get somewhere well lit. If you're on the side of I-5 or in a dark lot, stay in a populated spot like a store entrance. Keep your phone charged and tell a friend where you are. After a break-in, don't go inside until police have cleared the house. Have your ID handy so the locksmith can get started once they arrive.
What it costs
You'll get an estimate by phone, and the locksmith confirms the cost on site before starting. Through our referral network, lockouts, rekeys, lock repair, and home or business key extraction start at $19.00. A basic lock change starts at $25.00. Safe opening starts at $85.00. Car keys, ignition work, and automotive key extraction start at $100.00. Each adds a $29.00 service call fee. Major credit cards are accepted. See the price list and coupons.
